The new entrance to the London campus of Fanshawe College. This access, in combination with a new Information Kiosk and improvements to the entry road was designed and constructed to form the new main entrance into the campus. In 2008, the project was recognized with a City of London Urban Design Award. The design team took on the challenge to create a new architectural gateway that would announce the entrance into the campus in a bold and unique fashion. The shape of the gateway elements are curvilinear in form, extending outwards toward the street, embracing the user as he passes through. This curvilinear shape is representative of the natural world and is meant to act as a counter to the rigidness of the concrete and stone materials.
